Per Diem vs Travel Pay

Two different lines
Per diem and travel pay can both show up on a remote job stub. They are not the same dollars, and mixing them up wrecks your week plan.
Per diem in plain terms
Per diem is usually a daily allowance for meals and lodging while you are away. Check whether it is taxable on your stub or paid separately.
Travel pay
Travel pay often covers drive time or mileage to the site. It may be taxed like wages even when it feels like a reimbursement.
Plan around the job
Before you leave town, write which lines you expect and which bills they should cover. Do not spend travel pay as if it were base wages.
"Label the money before the hotel receipts pile up."
Practice it
NoVex Trade shows how remote stubs stack. Journeyman drills the difference so your first out-of-town check is not a surprise.
